FuelZap Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

FuelZap ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application FuelZap (the "App"). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the App.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the App depends on the content and materials you use, and includes:

Personal Data

While using our App, we do not require you to provide personally identifiable information such as your name, shipping address, email address, or telephone number to use the core features. Signup is not required. If you choose to contact us directly for support or feedback, we may collect your email address and any other information you voluntarily provide.

Calculation Data

To provide the App's core functionalities, we collect data you input related to your vehicle and usage. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Vehicle details (e.g., type, make, model, year, efficiency ratings)
  • Fuel or energy type and prices
  • Mileage and driving habits (e.g., distance, frequency)
  • Trip planning details (e.g., start/end locations, routes)
  • Maintenance logs or cost inputs (if you use these features)

This data is referred to as "Calculation Data."

Location Data (Optional)

We may request access or permission to and track location-based information from your mobile device, either continuously or while you are using the App, to provide location-based services such as finding nearby charging stations or optimizing routes. If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in your device’s settings. This data is collected only with your explicit consent.

Device and Usage Information (Derivative Data)

Information our servers automatically collect when you access the App, such as your IP address, your browser type, your operating system, your access times, and the pages you have viewed directly before and after accessing the App. We may also collect device information (such as your mobile device ID, model, and manufacturer), and app usage statistics. We use services like Firebase Analytics for this purpose.

2. How We Use Your Information

Having accurate information permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the App to:

  • Provide and manage the core functionalities of the App, such as cost calculations, trip planning, mileage tracking, and comparisons.
  • Improve the App's features, accuracy, and overall user experience.
  • Analyze usage and trends to improve our App and services. This includes using Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the App.
  • Respond to your inquiries, provide customer support, and troubleshoot problems if you contact us.
  • Notify you of updates to the App or changes to our policies.
  • Compile anonymized and/or aggregated statistical data from Calculation Data for internal use, research, or for use with third parties as described below.

If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.

Third-Party Service Providers

We may share your information with third parties that perform services for us or on our behalf, including data analysis (e.g., Firebase Analytics), hosting services, customer service, and marketing assistance. These service providers are obligated to protect your information.

Anonymized and Aggregated Data

We may process, analyze, and aggregate Calculation Data you provide. This results in anonymized and/or aggregated datasets that do not personally identify you. We may use, share, license, or sell such anonymized and/or aggregated datasets to third parties for various purposes, including but not limited to research, industry analysis, service improvement, or commercial purposes. Business Transfers

If FuelZap is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via a prominent notice within the App of any change in ownership or uses of your personal information, as well as any choices you may have regarding your personal information.

4. Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.

5. Your Choices and Rights

You have certain rights and choices regarding your information:

  • Location Information: You can prevent the App from collecting location information by disabling location services on your device or denying permission for the App to access location information.
  • Analytics: You may be able to opt-out of some data collection by analytics providers through their own opt-out mechanisms or by adjusting your device privacy settings. For Firebase, this may involve limiting ad tracking on your device.
  • Access, Correction, Deletion: If you have provided us with any personal information by contacting us, you may request to access, correct, or delete that information by emailing us at app@fuelzap.app. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe. Note that Calculation Data input into the app is stored locally on your device or within the app's operational data structures and may not be directly attributable to you if you haven't provided identifying information.

6. Children’s Privacy

FuelZap is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.

7. International Data Transfers

Your information, including Calculation Data and any personal data you provide, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. If you are located outside the United States and choose to use the App, please note that we transfer data, including personal data, to the United States and process it there. Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page or within the App.
